Happy Sunday!

We are already approaching week 5 of the school year! We are more than halfway through the first quarter. Here is everything that you need to know for this week.

Week 5 - September 9-13, 2024

September 10: FAST Testing

September 11: PROGRESS REPORTS ARE AVAILABLE

September 11: Final Day to Notify Ms. Pyburn that you want to audition for the All-State Honor Band

September 12: FAST Testing

FAST Testing

There will be testing in the band room this week on Tuesday and Thursday. On these days, students may only drop off their instrument on these mornings and go to their required testing location. There will also be no lunch practice on these days.

Progress Reports

Progress reports are scheduled to be available on Wednesday, September 11. Students, please make sure you have turned in all assignments in all classes. I have students currently failing band because they have not turned in the Band Handbook Acknowledgement form and are not being prepared for class. As soon as you turn in the form I will fix the grade!

Beginning Band

Make sure you are getting your instrument needs taken care of! You must do one of the following:

  1. You turn in an Instrument Rental Form (found on our website) to borrow an instrument from the school.

  2. You sign up to rent an instrument from Music Shack, Music & Arts, or Leesburg Music.

  3. You have purchased or own an instrument that you have gotten approved by Ms. Pyburn.

Parents! Please email me regarding instrument or mouthpiece purchases! Please ask before buying anything from Amazon or online!!! There are a lot of scams.

All-State Honor Band

Open to returning students in 7 & 8 grade. This ensemble will be having rehearsals and a concert at the Florida Music Education Association Conference. Dates are January 9-11, 2025. Students must tell Ms. Pyburn by THIS WEDNESDAY, September 11 if they are interested in being submitted. I can only submit up to 10 students, so any student that is interested must play their scales for me. Auditions will happen from September 16-20. Students may come before school, during lunch, or after school to audition.

Stetson University Honor Chamber Festival

In case you did not know, Stetson University hosts a middle school Honor Chamber Festival that welcomes students that are in their second or third year of playing their instrument! This is a full day event that also has a concert on Sunday, September 22! Students will work with Music Education Major students at Stetson in both ensembles and sectionals.

Students will have the opportunity to perform in woodwind ensemble, brass ensemble, or percussion ensemble!

Admission is $5 and your student must let Ms. Pyburn know they are interested before signing up! Students must provide their own transportation to the festival. I will be there the whole day to support all students attending! Please see the flyer below for the QR to sign up!
