Wednesday, March 25: Pyburn Out

Solo & Ensemble 2 - April 11th!

I will be sending out an email by the end of this week about piano rehearsals! I am doing my best to keep as much during school as possible, but please realize and understand that your student may have to rehearse after school!

Date: April 11, 2026

Time: Times will vary and I will not know until after the District 19 FBA Chair makes the schedule

Location: The Villages Charter Middle School

Piano Rehearsal: Piano rehearsals will be scheduled once I have a set number of students. Most of the time it can be done during school or right after school. I will communicate ahead of time if it is after school!

All beginners received a solo to be working on, and Symphonic Band students should have chosen something by now! Please email me if you have questions!

Monday, May 11: UPDATED Beginning Band Rehearsal, 4:15-5:15PM

Tuesday, May 12: Spring Concert, Umatilla HS Auditorium, 7PM

Lakeside Jazz Festival, April 17

Lakeside Jazz Festival is right around the corner! Here’s everything I sent in the previous email!

Date: Friday, April 17, 2026

Performance Time: 2PM on Cafe Stage

Location: Kenneth Parker Amphitheatre in Port Orange, FL

Uniform: UMS Jazz Polo, Black Dress Pants, Black Dress Shoes (Students may bring a change of shoes. They CANNOT change out of their polo)

Itinerary:

11:00 AM – Students meet in band room with early lunch

11:45 PM – Depart Umatilla Middle School

12:55 PM – Arrive at Lakeside Jazz Festival

12:55PM – Unload the Bus

1:00 PM – Walk to site (Ms. Pyburn will check in the band)

1:40 PM – Scheduled Warm-up Time

2:00 PM – Performance by the UMS Tiger Jazz Band – Café Stage

2:20 PM – Clinic with one of our Judges

2:45 PM – Pack-Up Instruments

3:00 PM – Continue to Explore (Watch Jazz Bands, Art Festival, Eat Food, etc)

3:45 PM – In Seats at Main Stage

4:00 PM – Watch Bands (Spruce Creek HS 12 O’Clock, Stetson Jazz)

5:30 PM – Daytona State College Jazz Band (Ms. Pyburn performance)

6:15 PM – Load Equipment

6:30 PM – Depart Lakeside Jazz Festival

7:45 PM – Arrive at Umatilla Middle School

Directions to Lakeside Jazz Festival:

Please see the attached itinerary and suggested packing list. Please understand that the itinerary may change due to busing, but this will give you a basic idea. I will send another email as we get closer to the event.

I WILL NEED PARENT CHAPERONES FOR THIS EVENT! Please email if you are interested! I will need at least 3 parents!

Upcoming Pass-Off Performances

Students can attend a music concert as a pass-off AS LONG AS THERE IS A PHOTO OR VIDEO! I will also accept a program if photo or video cannot be taken!

Sunday, March 22, 3PM: Mount Dora Jazz Band, W.T. Bland Library (FREE) (Ms. Pyburn is performing!)

Friday, March 27, 7:30PM: Chandler Wilson (Saxophone) - Stetson University, Lee Chapel (Ms. Pyburn is also performing with Dr. Wilson on this recital!)

Wednesday, April 8, 7PM: Daytona State College Jazz Band - News Journal Center (Ms. Pyburn performing!)

Friday, April 17 & 18: Lakeside Jazz Festival, Kenneth Parker Amphitheatre, Port Orange (ALL DAY, FREE!)

Saturday, April 18, 7:30PM: Stetson University Symphonic Band - Stetson University, Lee Chapel

Sunday, April 19 - Lee Chapel, Stetson University:

Percussion Ensemble, 1PM

Woodwind Ensembles, 4PM

Brass Ensembles, 7:30PM

Tuesday, April 21, 7:30PM: Trombone Studio Recital - Stetson University, Lee Chapel
