Wednesday, April 8: NO OPEN PRACTICE (Ms. Pyburn has a concert to perform in, you should check it out!)

Thursday, April 9: Open Practice/Solo & Ensemble Help, 4-5PM

Friday, April 10: Possible Mr. Tran Piano Rehearsal Day (TBD, after school)

Saturday, April 11: Solo & Ensemble 2 (see your time in the file attached!), The Villages Charter Middle School

Sunday, April 12: Depart for Chattlanta Trip!, 6AM

Solo & Ensemble 2 - April 11th!

I sent out an email yesterday to all the parents who have students attending Solo and Ensemble. Just in case you did not receive it, please see the attached file “Pianist Assignments & Rehearsal Dates”

S&E Date: April 11, 2026

Time: Times Vary, please see the schedule below!!!

Location: The Villages Charter Middle School

If you did not pay your accompanist $40, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO SO! They both work very hard to prepare everyone’s music on top of their own personal jobs.

All beginners received a solo to be working on, and Symphonic Band students should have chosen something by now! Please email me if you have questions!

Lakeside Jazz Festival, April 17

Lakeside Jazz Festival is right around the corner! Here’s is all the up-to-date information!

Date: Friday, April 17, 2026

Performance Time: 2PM on Cafe Stage

Location: Kenneth Parker Amphitheatre in Port Orange, FL

Uniform: UMS Jazz Polo, Black Dress Pants, Black Dress Shoes (Students may bring a change of shoes. They CANNOT change out of their polo)

Itinerary:

THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE FROM LAKESIDE JAZZ FESTIVAL!!!! WARM-UP IS NOW 40MINS BEFORE PERFORMANCE TIMES

10:30 AM – Students meet in band room with early lunch (CHANGE SO WE CAN LEAVE ASAP, TIME CRUNCH)

11:45 PM – Depart Umatilla Middle School

12:55 PM – Arrive at Lakeside Jazz Festival

12:55PM – Unload the Bus

1:00 PM – Walk to site (Ms. Pyburn will check in the band)

1:20 PM – Scheduled Warm-up Time*****

2:00 PM – Performance by the UMS Tiger Jazz Band – Café Stage

2:20 PM – Clinic with one of our Judges

2:45 PM – Pack-Up Instruments

3:00 PM – Continue to Explore (Watch Jazz Bands, Art Festival, Eat Food, etc)

3:45 PM – In Seats at Main Stage

4:00 PM – Watch Bands (Spruce Creek HS 12 O’Clock, Stetson Jazz)

5:30 PM – Daytona State College Jazz Band (Ms. Pyburn performance)

6:15 PM – Load Equipment

6:30 PM – Depart Lakeside Jazz Festival

7:45 PM – Arrive at Umatilla Middle School

I WILL NEED PARENT CHAPERONES FOR THIS EVENT! Please email if you are interested! I will need at least 3 parents!

IMPORTANT: if you are interested in chaperoning in this event, you MUST ride the bus and stay for the ENTIRETY of the event. I have to walk away multiple times during this event and cannot watch the students alone. (With an ensemble I’m playing in performing, gathering scores, etc). Also since students will be in groups exploring bands and the art festival. I cannot do this without your help parents!!!

Please see the attached itinerary and suggested packing list. Please understand that the itinerary may change due to busing, but this will give you a basic idea.

Tuesday, May 12: Spring Concert, Umatilla HS Auditorium, 7PM

Upcoming Pass-Off Performances

Students can attend a music concert as a pass-off AS LONG AS THERE IS A PHOTO OR VIDEO! I will also accept a program if photo or video cannot be taken!
